Select the block to which you want to assign an alternate name, then using your right click shortcut menu choose BLOCK EDITOR. In the BLOCK EDITOR dialogue window you can click the second icon from the left to SAVEAS and give the block a new name. Then close the block editor window. It will not change the name of the block which you selected, but you can now use the INSERT command, scroll down the list of available blocks in the drawing and choose the newly named block, and you can insert it, specifying your insertion point.
