Xrefs in AutocadLT 2006

Can Xrefs be used in Autocad LT2006?
Can they be clipped and layers turned on and off?
If yes, where are the commands filed?

Yes xrefs are available in LT.

Images cannot be inserted but if inserted using full AutoCAD they can be managed within LT.

Downside is that you are not able to freeze individual layers.

Our office has used thrid party express tools for LT but these do not allow individual layer freezing.

I do not think you can clip xrefs in LT.

You are able to go to the layer manager and freeze layers within the x-reference.
This can be a fairly slow process if there are many layers and you are not familiar with the layers within the x-ref (say, if recieved from another consultant)

We've found "LT-Extender" very useful.
It's a very stable bolt on programme for AutoCAD which gives you many of the functions of AutoCAD Full, including express layer freeze, x-clip and image insert. These functions are free!

Yes, daiharv, that is correct.

I did not make it clear enough that you cannot freeze individual layers from model space or from within a viewport, which you can with full AutoCAD (using express tools commands).

You have to know what the layer names might be to freeze them in the layer dialogue box. To do this you need to open the xref drawing to check the layer names - very time consuming!
