Section view data

Hi,

Another day, another problem, this time about Section views, can anyone tell me if its possible to get your data from an alignment? to clarify the way i percieve it to work is Civil3D obtains its horzontial position (chainage) from the alignment and then the height from the surface you select. Is it possible to get Civil3D to take the height from the alignment rather than a selected surface??

If you are talking about cross sections, a surface will give you a line (two dimensions) in a section view, while an alignment will only give you a point (one dimension). In other words, a cross section is cutting a three-dimensional surface along a line to give you a two-dimensional projection. With an alignment, you're starting with a two-dimensional line, so the section would cut that down to one dimension.

Are you talking about the center point of your assembly? I must be missing something.

not to worry i worked out a work around, i was talk about the profile view, ie, the long section of an alignment, i was trying to do somethng that couldnt be done because i didnt know the system well enough, i thought, for some reason, that alignments could have heights, but i have since worked out they cant.

If you're talking about a vertical profile, defining your alignment vertically is the whole point. A corridor is what you get when you sweep an assembly along that profile.
