I am drawing in 3D in autocad 2012 and are getting solidworks models from the client. I also have solidworks 2011 installed on my machine and was trying to import the solidworks models into autocad as 3D solids.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible??

Yes, AutoCAD 2012 will import SolidWorks 2011 3D solids.

Thanks for the reply,

What is the process to achieve this? i tried saving it out as an ACIS file but autocad says unable to read.

Any help would be great.

You can import directly *sldprt and *.sldasm files.

If you use ACIS *.sat files you must set to v7 when saving in SWx.

I will try to get back later today with the exact steps to open *.sld* files.
