Hi...I don't know if anybody talk about this subject, but i'm working in a enterprise that we need a routine that counts the blocks that we put in the drawing. Example:

we draw a network and we need to count floor boxes and the switches, we have to put numbers at the side of those boxes...

    How could we do that???

we have a big project, with a lot of items. I've Autocad LT 2006.

    best regards...and thank you.

    Sorry my english

Your blocks might have attributes in which you can enter numbers. I'm not familiar with the cahanges in AutoCad 2006 LT but what concerns the AutoCad 2005 there you can choose Tools--> Attribute extraction and thus you get all the blocks and their attributes i an Excel file. There it's much easier to count and sort info...

not with LT I'm afraid. No automation supported.
With LT you have to do it all manually.

I don't even think LT supports attribute extraction, but I may be wrong on that count

I think that what I told you in my previous message might still do for your needs. For the example you give you have to create a block and name it "Printer". The block must have attributes "Name" and "Number". In the "number" attribute you will enter the specific number for each printer. In the "Name" attribute you can enter the name (model) of the printer. In the same way you can create blocks with attributes to represent other objects like PC, chairs, tables etc.... I've used this autocad options many times and find it very useful when it comes to bills of quantities.

Joro means that as you insert the block it can either enter a constant number (the same each time) or ask the user for a number to insert.
