Exclamation 3DS viewport object display error

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Cannot change the colour of object in view port. It appears black with only the edges of the object taking on the chosen colour (pink) I haven't applied a material map to it and i don't wish to at this stage.
    Things I have tried:
Using edit normals under editable mesh and flipping them and unify.
    Applying a different colour.
Checking backface cull box in object properties.
    Weld vertices modifier.

any help would be most appreciated.

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

Sorry, I didn't see this thread until now.

The first thing you need to do is select your object, right click and choose "Convert to Editable Poly". This will break the object up into individual parts.

What I found out is that your objects have a default material applied to them, (Autodesk Generic), which is why you can't change the color. Was this model created in another program and then imported into Max?

If you want to change the color of the objects you will need to do so through the Material Editor.
