Default Hidden Shade and WMF format

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Hey everybody, I'm a new member in here, was just going through this form and thought of reporting my issue here...

    So, here it goes:

Does anybody have any idea how do I export a WMF file (of a 3D model) without the annoying hidden lines. I mean, is it possible to export a WMF file in any shade (preferably hidden) other than the standard wireframe mode?

    Kindly assist.

    Fahim.

    Not really.

I was always under the understanding that WMFOUT was an export command, not a plotting command. -David

i dont even think WMFOUT even supports 3D Properties, does it? it just saves as vectors in the given viewport.... but then again i've never really tried to import the WMF file into another 3D application ;-)

    Hello Fahim!
And if nobody told you this until now: welcome in the forum!
I think you need to do a SOLPROF first, delete the block containing the hidden lines and export the remaining lines.
It's nice to be nice, but sometimes is nicer to be evil!.

Hey again! ...and thanks everybody for answering back.

Well, I did a Google Search in the meantime and found a way out of the problem, and here it is:

Before exporting the viewport (scene) as a Windows Meta File, type in HIDE and then hit on WMFOUT, this solves the problem. It was that easy!

However, if you don't use the HIDE command before WMFOUT, no matter what shade you are working on, you will always export the viewport in 2D WIREFRAME shade.

For me, it is an important discovery as it broadens the scope of AutoCAD renderings. Imagine, having an option like RENDERED WITH EDGES ON!!! That just got possible now!!

To make myself clear, I'm furnishing a few renderings here, rendered in AutoCAD 2006 and overlapped with their metafiles (had to use PaintShop Pro for this purpose). Enjoy!

Here, the second image was exported without using the HIDE command. Note the 2D WIREFRAME shade.

Hope you guys find it usefull,

    Fahim.
