Problem with points remaining after clicking onscreen

Hi, it's really not very important, but it's quite annoing - each time I click on the screen remain traces(points) . They stay there as long as I don't zoom in or out - then they disappear and new ones appear clicking again... It might be some system variable or option I have accidentially activated.
Can somebody tell me how can I switch this off?...
