Drawing file is not valid!

drunkCAD

Recommended Posts

I looked on the forum and tried some of the things but with no luck. i have AutoCAD 2010 and the drawing was saved in 2010 as no one in my company has a higher version. also unfortunately i am not able to post the drawing as it is part of a current project.

So no matter how i open the drawing it prompts me with drawing file not valid.

it will also not let me recover.

if someone could help me with this that would be awesome!

Welcome to CadTutor forum!

Before we call in CSI or a forensics team, have you tried the following:

1. Open on a different machine?

2. Try recover from a different machine?

3. Insert as a block into a new drawing?

4. Attach to a blank drawing as a xref?

Is there a .bak file for the drawing? or an SV$?

How often do you have autosave running? How often do you save?

What were the conditions when the drawing was last successfully open? (i.e. power surge or bump? server backup?)

Can you include a screen shot of the error message?

Good luck,

Bill

2. refer to 1

3. ** File P:\Projects\B-Current Projects\C3881 SSCP2\CAD\Sheets\K-205.dwg was

created by an incompatible version of AutoCAD

4.invaliddwg.jpg

Welcome

What is the lowest versoin of autoCAD that you are using on the project.

Can you open it with the AutoCAD 2010 that you saved it with.

Can you make a new blank dwg in AutoCAD 2010 and save it. and then try to open it on your project.

If the same problem happens, can you post blank file so that we can look at
