joining 3d faces

hey,
excuse my terminology, im 100% self taught.
you know how you can join two 3d solids, is there any command where you can join two 3d faces? I dont think there is but just to make sure.

Maybe Mr. T can tell you more about surfaces.
My answer: you can not join together two surfaces (not in AutoCAD). But if we are talking about just two faces you may construct a new surface (a 3Dmesh or better Pface) based on the existing geometry and delete the old faces.
Probable it is possible to export the surfaces in 3D Studio, join them together and re-import the result in AutoCAD.

Here I am again!
I tested the method I described and it works. You don't need 3D Studio, just place the surfaces on the same layer and type 3dsout. In the Export Options be sure to select "Derive 3D Studio Objects From" > Layer.
Make the export and then re-insert in the drawing the 3D Studio file just created, using the command 3dsin. All the surfaces comming from the same layer are joined.
The method works on my AutoCAD 2000.

one more thing, you know when you are rendering, and you attach certain rendering whatever they are calleds, bitmaps, I dont know, to certain layers/objects, where can i get more of those things, patterns shall we call them.
