AutoCAD 2004

I was just wondering how the opinions were for 2004 version. I am currently running 2000i with Rebis and have not seen many of the changes for 2004. Any advice on what the positive and negatives are for the 3D world.

I'll chime in again on this one. 2004 is one of the best versions yet. I put it past r14 in it's value. Not sure on exactly what areas if any were improved in the 3D area but I was using it to remodel a few items from the game Quake2 for a remodel project and it was having no problems doing what I wanted.





Better act on your upgrade. the longer you wait the more it costs. I did not upgrade to 2002 and it cost almost $900 more to upgrade

Thanks for the reply. Here they are pedling the fact that the file size is considerably less. With our models this does get to be an issue, any comments? Looks like the interface is really good especially with the transparent icons.

Yes, the file sizes I have seen are 1/3 to almost 1/2 at times less. Now these are Architectural drawings mind you. Might look at a few 3d models from 2000i and then open into 2004 and save. Let me get back to you on this...

Not knocking your work though,they do look impressive.Whats with the traffic lights at the top of the CAD2004 screen?I keep looking at the screen trying to see what new features it has. I have 2004LT but have still been using my CAD2K,maybe I should just make the leap and start using it.I suppose I just fel comfy with my CAD2K and alot my future employers will probably be using CAD2K over 2004.

Oh I know you were not knocking my work, you were just picking with me, I know The traffic light? Haha, if you look again you'll see that I am running a skin of Mac OSX Panther on my windows 2000 machine, at this moment, I like to change the way my interface looks. If you have to look at something all day might as well make it look neat and different.
