    Default Problem with scroll button

I've had a problem with my scrol button on my mouse. It might have already been answered, but I'm new to this site.
I'm using ADT 2006, but at various times I've experienced the same problem on previous versions of Cad.
Basically everything is working fine, then suddenly instead of zooming in and out, it decides to stop functioning. I then have to close the drawing and reopen it to get it to zoom in and out again.
It's been happening on and off for a few months now so it's really starting to peeve me off. The mouse has been thrown a few times now in frustration, but that has failed to fix the problem!
Has anyone else had to deal with this?

have you tried testing another mouse? is it a USB or PS/2 mouse? what version of Windows are you running? how long has it been since you've done maintenence on your machine? does it run slow? how old is the mouse?

could be anything, start with testing a new mouse 1st. and NOT a cheap one, a decent one

It's not my mouse. A few others in the office have the same problem, and I've had it before working in other companys.
I was thinking it had something to do with lack of memory space on my computer, but I'm not sure because other than this problem, both AutoCad and other programs work fine. I'm running Windows 2000.

Sounds like a computer problem rather than a mouse problem... is your computer lagging..? So when your drawing the mouse pointer keeps stopping and starting... does this happen more in larger size drawings..? If so then it sounds like you need to increase your Vertual Memory.

The computer seems fine. And more often than not it happens on the smaller drawing files. It's doesn't make sense at all. Thats why it's driving me crazy.

I've just given the IT guys some verbal abuse as he walked in, so I'm going to make it his problem.

Did you ever solve this? Sounds similar to a problem I have. With no explanation, the scroll zoom will change to scrolling the page up and down. It happens on all 4 of my machines... Sometimes more often on certain drawings tan others. I did find a way to fix it without closing. Try using the scroll wheel while the mouse pointer is on any one of the menus. This will restore zoom for me... at least for a while. I would love to find a real solution though.

Haven't really fixed it. I think its a memory thing.
I usually just go into another drawing, save then come back, then its fine.
