The sad thing is that you could have gotten a legitimate copy of Bricscad for less money and it's almost as good a product as Autocad. The current version is roughly equivalent to Acad 2008 in features and their support team is great.

If you used Paypal for your payment you can maybe get your money back, but unlikely now. I think you have to lodge it withing 30 days. you friend can now get a full cad package from free at www.nanocad.com. Registration is required, but the software is free.

I was refering to filing a complaint with ebay and paypal, as in they are not all fly by night.

Isn't the product key for AutoCad (each vertical version one and year release is different though) the same for everybody (and then everyone has different serial numbers)?

I.e. looking at http://blog.motionmedia.com/autodesk-2012-product-keys/ for vanilla AutoCad 2012 it would be 001D1 etc.

I checked the product code on the DVD of 2012 that I have against the list in the link provided and it is the same.

The OP would still need to provide the unique serial number (XXX-XXXXXXXX) for his copy of 2010 during the registration process in order to obtain an activation code.
