Is it possible that someone moved the central model or you opened your local file without access to the location of the central model?

I have a project to do for uni, i have about 2/3s of it done but now when i try and edit it in any way everything seems to be locked in some way. a warning box keeps coming up saying central model is inaccessible. Anybody know what I should do??
