3D Realistic View Problem

I have a 13 MB* 3D model that I am working in. Everything was fine until a few days ago. Now when I view my drawing in Realistic view mode it shows the outlines of everything behind the main objects . The model is a large vessel with platforms and piping. If I do a side view of the vessel I can see outlines of all the piping and structure behind the vessel which makes a jumbled mess of lines. Previous versions of my drawing display correctly. Any Ideas what could cause this? I need solid views to show up as solids. Conceptual view is really bad.

System information:

Windows 7 64 bit 8 gb memory

Processor Intel Core Quad CPU Q9300 @2.50 Hz 2.5 GHz

AutoCad 2009 64 bit

Cadworx 2012 64 bit

So what happened a few days ago? Did you have a computer crash while the file was open?

What video card do you have?

In Autocad's performance settings, Do you have hardware acceleration enabled?

Are the previous versions of the model also 13mb, or are they a smaller filesize?

Can you post some screenshots so we can see what you see?

If you have not already set up ADAPTIVE DEGRADATION, then you probably should. In that way if the demands on your system are too great you can direct it to prioritize the features of your display which are the most relevant, and generally speed up your performance by essentially turning off things of little importance.

As Charlie Sheen would say, 'take the degradation challenge!'

You should investigate xrefs (or a modern CAD program).

Make sure you have backups of that file.

If it becomes corrupted you will lose everything.

If you used xrefs you would be safer and probably more manageable.
