Get the subscription and you can continue to use the 2010 release for all the seats on subscription.
The new versions might have some new features.

The office is going to be needing some additional seats, and going to Civil 3d 2012.
Are there any big differences in the two? Not really wanting to upgrade I don't think, but can't get 2010 anymore. We came to 2010 from 2004, which was a big difference. Hoping that just a few years isn't that big a deal. Thanks!

Hmm. I think the problem with the subscription is it's only good for 3 years (or versions). You can use it for 2010, but after 3 years it expires. And were 2 years past 2010 already. It only lets you go back 3 years. Or something like that.

As long as you have the media you should be able to get the serial numbers. Ask your reseller just to be sure.
