jezaride
Hi Krew How do I measure the weight of some steel objects in autocad 2012 ? For instance if you draw a 10mm plate 2 meters by 1 meter ? Are there any plug-ins or extra programs that help with steel shop manufacturing detailing etc when drawing in Autocad? Thanks! JR
Dadgad
Welcome to the forum. If you are talking about a 3D model you can use MASSPROP. I have never used it, but I believe that PROSTEEL can do that for you automatically, and no doubt there are a bunch of other plug-ins or lisp routines that will do that for you. I do it with custom variables, which are FUNCTIONS (not constants), which saves having to enter the multiplication icon every time it is used.. If I click on a closed polyline, the area is displayed in my quick properties palette, by clicking the calculator icon in the area attribute box there, you can easily double click the variable describing the plate thickness times the weight of a cubic unit of steel, resulting in the weight. The image shows weight being calculated from a model with the MASSPROP command. Edited April 27, 2012 by Dadgad
