    Default Free CAD programs to download?

    Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Are there any basic CAD programs out there to download that are free.Just something that I could draw basic lines etc with?

    IntelliCAD used to be free but I think they are charging for it now, though it's only a minimal fee. I think there may still be some versions floating around that are free

    True, it did used to be free that one as well as a product called PowerCAD (not to be confused with the Mac PowerCADD).

    Intellicad is almost and AutoCAD clone. I believe that it can even use AutoCAD .scripts, lisp and menus. It also reads and writes to .dwg.
    $200 for the standard version with cd and manual.

    PowerCAD is not as nice as Intellicad (I have tried both) but it is not bad for the price. $99 for the LT package.

    IMSI has a TurboCAD Learning Edition that is free, the catch is you have to agree to receive spam. I have an email that I give out just for spamming so it wasn't a problem.

    I tried it and a Pro-E free edition, but I just can't let go of my command line...which is one of the reasons I haven't been able to pick up Inventor.
