Unhappy Autocad 2006 + Me Mate HVAC 2005. Need help installing or finding alternative solutio

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

First off Hi everyone and I hope you guys give me the time of day and can hopefully assist me with an issue thats been driving me nuts.

So first off this is actually for my father in law, He recently upgraded his pc and is now working off of windows 7 64bit Professional.

My endgame is to have Autocad 2006 + Hvac installed however I'm having issues getting Me Mate Hvac installed on this PC. It appears to be an issue with it only being supported by windows 32 bit or not being supported by windows 7 at all.

My question is, does anyone have a similar setup? I've tried installed windows xp compatibitly mode and running it in the virtual instance but now autocad 2006 is giving me erros when attempting to use Me mate within the application.

I'm at a loss here and this issue is driving me crazy. Its been a long night so sorry for the sloppy post, I will keep a close eye on this and reply back to any replies that may have a solution. Hopefully someone here has experienced this dreaded issue.

I honestly don't know why he would need support for such an old product, is there an alternative to this combination of applications? I believe hes using it for old work or something among those lines.

tl;dr . Trying to run Me Mate HVAC + autocad 2006 in windows 7 64 bit.

You can try using a program to run AutoCAD 2006 called Longbow.

Longbow looks like a good solution to installing autocad but I'm not sure it will work for installing the 32bit version of MeMate HVac.

I'm going to continue playing with this xp mode virtual server within windows 7 pro 64 bit.

If anyone have any other suggestions I'll keep up with this post.

If I get this resolved outside of suggestions I'll also post an update here. I'm sure someone else out there is having the same issue I'm having.

    Thanks again for the suggestion

I know you can get a program called vmware and install this on your father in laws machine. Then install windows 32bit operating software on that on the vmware. You can find it
    http://www.vmware.com/
They do have a free version too.
I used this at my work place for the exact thing you could used it for.

Thanks for the advice Diesel. I believe I'm achieving similar results by actually using windows virtual machine to run windows xp within windows 7.

So it looks like I was able to manually rip both disks and place them in the VM and mount them using Daemon tools and that seems to have installed the programs just fine.

My issue now is apparently my father in law has some sort of USB thumb drive that needs to be attached in order to use MeMate 2005 HVAC.

I'm having either one of two issues... the only thing I can think of is the VM isn't properly reading the USB thumb drive.

I can see the thumb drive listed on the VM but I'm not sure if MeMate is able to pickup on its location.

I might have to try and run VMware and install it on windows vista... It was a pain to install on vista as well but at this point I think I might try and go with that solution.

I guess if that doesn't work I can have his pc dual boot lol.

Thanks for all the advice so far. Does anyone know of other programs he can use to get the same results as autocad + memate? I'm so noob with this autocad stuff so I have no idea where to start. It would be nice to get him updated with the latest.

This sounds just like my father-in-laws issue. For years he used mules and a wagon to carry supplies out to the back woods. The wagon finally broke down and he brought a new Ford F250 but can't find any way to get the mules to hitch up to it. There's no draw bar on the F250. He asked the truck dealer and they installed a trailer hitch for another $1000 and gave him the name of a horse trailer dealer in the town over to put his mules in.

Ok so I just want to thank you all for your suggestions. I was able to resolve the isssue by using windows xp Virtual mode(XP VM within windows 7). So just a quick run down incase anyone else out on the internet runs into the same issue as me.

First off, installing auto cad was simple, XP mode took the disk and install autocad 2006 just fine. The main issue I had was running MeMate 2005 HVAC. The autoplay option just wouldn't come up for me so I decided to RIP the disk into and ISO on windows 7 and transfer it over to the desktop instance using a USB thumb drive. Once that was completed, I used Daemon Tools application to Mount the image and autoplay worked just fine from there.

The next issue I ran into was that apparently a Dongle is needed in order to use HVAC. In order to run HVAC without receiving the !!! HARDWARE LOCK !!! message I had to attach the USB thumb drive on the virtual instance. I did this by clicking USB on the menu bar and clicking on the correct device listed there.

tl;dr. Ripped MeMate disk/mounted ISO file on XP VM.

Thanks again guys I'm glad this issue is done for
