    Default Revisions on Drawings

    Hi All,

    I designed Part1.ipt and created drawing1.idw.
Then I modified Part1.ipt and saved it.
In this respect, I've noticed that Inventor keeps the old versions in an 'old' folder in the same root directory.
After that I opened the drawing1.idw. Obviously, Part1 on the drawing1.idw automatically updated.
Then I saved it as drawing2.idw.

In this case if you open drawing1.idw later, it will update itself with the modified version of Part1.ipt which I do not want this happen. How can I stop it or address Inventor to the old Part1.ipt which exist on 'old' folder in the same root?

    Cheers

    Ali

Save part1.ipt as a different file name before you make changes to it.

By saving the part file to another name, doesn't that mean you have to redo the drawing.idw, including redimensioning everything?

Save the drawing under a different file name as well, then Manage Tab --> Replace Model Reference.

You could also Defer Updates on the drawing (of course, before changinng the part file).

Thanks. Your solution is the one. This is how I went through, opened the drawing1, using Manage Tab --> Replace Model Reference then addressed to part1 in 'old' folder in the root directory.

    Cheers
