    Default seParate objects problem

    Hi all,
I am new to this board - I am a design-draftsman working in sheetmetal industry. I have been using Autocad in past, but only for 2D drawings, now I started using 3D solids and found it much easier for visualization and unfolding etc. However, I have a problem when I subtract a body from two objects (like two parts with a dowell hole). When I subract the object, the two parts become one part. I tried to seParate them (seararte button on Modify Solids toolbar) but it says that the object does not have multiple lumps. Could you please give me some advice on this topic. I am using Autocad 2004.
    Thank you for your help.

    that is standard in Autocad.
You are subtracting piece C from parts A & B, therefore parts A & B are now "connected" through part C, in effect becoming "one part".
All you need to do is duplicate part C and subtract one C from part A and the other part C from part B

Thank you hendie for your quick reply. This explains the situation. I'd say it's not very useful to connect the parts after subtraction - you can't disassemble them afterwords. Well, I have to do it separately. More work.
    Thanks again.
