Export AutoCAD P&ID Symbols into AutoCAD

Hi

Does anybody know if it’s possible to export all the P&ID symbols from AutoCAD P&ID 2012 and use them is the normal AutoCAD 2012 as blocks?

Maybe they are in a different format.

Any help would be great.

I can't comment about the P&ID symbols but in electrical all teh symbols are usable as normal acad .dwg blocks. They are stored in a library folder but are selectable from there. The naming convention is a bit obscure but it is logical once you break it down (if you can be bothered).

Oh man that is really sneaky.

If I recall correctly that library of blocks isn't all that good in terms of the number of symbols available. At least it wasn't when we looked at the program two years ago. I swear we already had a lot more symbols than came with the package. The rep said he could put us in touch with a company that would add the necessary content for us. I told him that it would be a waste of our money. I would rather just use our own symbols.

That's a pretty big download and a lot of trouble to go through just for the symbols.

Sorry...I have no clue. After the trial period we uninstalled the program.

I think I found them just by searching for .dwg in the search computer box.

I thought the program would have every single P&ID symbol in their database that I could extract and then use on different jobs. It’s good to see what certain symbols look like just in case I have to create my own in the future.
