Default Change Scale of completed drawing from Inch to mm??

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hi folks,

I know as I type this that it's the dumpest question to ask - but I just can't for the life of me remember how.

I have a fully completed drawing that is in 'architectural' (inches) and I would like to be able to change all of the 'feet & inches' linear dimensions (which form part of the drawing when the layer is turned on) to solely 'mm' instead.

The UNITS command keeps coming to mind, but I know that's not how to go about it. I've Googled for like 45 mins and read some highly overcomplicated instructions that lost me. (Please note I am posting this in the beginners section )

Can anyone tell me a simplified way to change this either via a command or changing settings via the toolbar? I repeat - a 'simplified way'

    Thanks in advance.

You should look in dimension style (DIMSTYLE command) under Primary Units tab - there chouse Unit Format as "Decimal" and select an appropriate Scale Factor (25.4 to convert inches to mm).

    Hi MSasu,

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I'm using AutoCAD 2012, so when I go to the 'Dimensions' tab and select 'dimensions style' (or if I type the DIMSTYLE command) I only get a short window - 'Dimension style Manager' and it tells me that my current dimension style is 'ISO-25'. I actually need to go to the 'Modify' button and find the 'tab' you referred to to make these changes.

Managed to figure it out though and thank you very much for your help. I'm just responding to this with the slight differences in case anyone else with 2012 has the same issue.

    Cheers.

The dimension styles manager has that appearance in previous versions too; I think my explanations weren't clear enough – for sure you should select the style you want to edit and use the Modify button to have access to his features.
