How to not make autocad curved line NOT break into straight line segments?

I draw a curved line and would like it to remain as a curved line even after saving the file. However everytime after saving, and opening the file again, the curve breaks into many line segments, which is not what I want! I want the curved line that I draw to remain as a curved line even after saving and opening. How do I do that? I am using autocad2010. THANKS!:)

I use the ARC command to draw a couple of lines, they look okay here. But after I saved it, and re-open it again, what previously appeared as curved lines changed in their appearance to polyline segments.

Your display is a rectangular grid of dots that change color. What you are seeing is probably a failure of the graphics system to draw a curve. To cut corners (literally), the video processor will break a curve into several straight segments. At a distance it looks like a curve, and as far as AutoCAD is concerned it is a curve. Setting VIEWRES to a higher number forces the display to increase the resolution, which cuts down on these choppy curves.

Technically, if you're not using raster graphics, every curve is drawn as a sequence of shorter segments. These segments may be only one pixel long, but they're still approximations.

WHIPARC

Controls whether the display of circles and arcs is smooth.

0 Circles and arcs are not smooth, but rather are displayed as a series of vectors

1 Circles and arcs are smooth, displayed as true circles and arcs

Just remember this thread before posting another asking why AutoCAD is so slow. ;)

Guys maybe its because he needs to just hit refresh like I do, I have the same issue when swopping screens and wondered if it might be that I have not got a very good computer (old like me lol )and hitting refresh then shows the curved lines correctly, the drawings always print correctly BTW ? so its not that its draw wrong just displayed incorrectly on my machine ?

I agree, how it displays may be distracting, but it is merely how it is represented, when printed it will be a continuous curve.
