Default help with 3D Inventor assembly to production drawings

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

My company has decided to make the move to 3D using Autodesk Inventor, however our current NC Systems all use a 2D DXF for programming. When we were still running autoCAD it was realatively simple and easy, a simple command and a file name and the DXF File was created.

With inventor it doesnt seem to be that simple. I was wondering if there is an easy way to create a 2d DXF that could be exported on a per-part basis, from the main assembly file. any help, links to tutorials, skill builder articles etc. would be greatly appreciated. Now that we've made this move my productivity has greatly decreased (simply due to my lack of experience using inventor compared to my vast experience with AutoCAD) and work is pilling up.

    Thanks in Advance!

another thought, is it possible to have individual component drawings for each component of an assembly layed out on one inventor drawing sheet? For example, lets say I have a simple assembly of a nut and bolt with 3 different size washers secured onto the bolt. Would it be possible to create one drawing in inventor that contains all details for each component as well as the assembly itself? Such as details on thickness and ID and OD of each washer, the size & type of bolt, and the size & type of nut, Followed by an assembled drawing??

You can save as 2D dxf. Post example file you want to save as 2d dxf
You can put any combination of views you want on a sheet or multiple sheets in one file (not much different than AutoCAD).

I understand the process of saving the model as a 2d dxf, that part is pretty straight foreward. I also know about placing multiple views. my problem comes about with the assembly itself. when im in the assembly file i need to generate a dxf file of the individual componenets (preferably on one sheet) so that our NC mill and EDM can access the files. I would need a detail drawing of each component seperately as well as the assembly drawing for reference. is this possible within inventor? Currently im moving the files autocad and generating the dxf from there.
