Default Drawing Template vs. Settings Template?

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

This may be a very stupid question ... sorry if so ...

Is there a way to save Text Styles ... DIM Styles etc ...
WITHOUT making a new drawing Template for each and every type?

I set up my drawing templates to be the Drawing spaces I want ...
if I have a 24x36 set to metric etc ... there could still be 100 different text styles I might want depending on the drawing ... and I can't very well save 100 different Templates with crazy names like :
    24x36 arc 3-up .25isft blk01 arial A1.dwt
For everysingle variation of combinations I might use ...

Is there a way to save JUST the text styles and JUST the DIJM styles etc ... so when I open a Template I can import them from each one instead of making 1200 different ones for every possibility that will arise or by making 1 HUGE template that has 500 different styles within it ?

    [what a run-on sentence!]

    HELP!

Put it all in one template and purge out what you don't use.

Make multiple templates depending on use.

Make a "base" template and create lisp routines to create necessary objects based on needs.

Make a "base" template and use DesignCenter to drag/drop objects.

Make a "base" template and use Tool Palettes for Entity creation to ensure that entities are created on the right layers, right dimstyle, right linetype, etc.

You may copy the settings from a drawing into the current one by using the Design Center (CTRL+2). Just locate the drawing containing the settings you wish to reuse and drag whatever you need in the current drawing.
This is ok for occasional use. For the often used things you should create a template.
It's nice to be nice, but sometimes is nicer to be evil!.

    That's a drag.

I need to use the design center more though ... so maybe its a blessing in disguise.

    Thanks guys!

What did you mean in your last "base template" description ... ?
I got a bit lost ... Tool Palettes for Entity creation?
    What do you mean?

    Thx again!

Tool Palettes allow you to create "tools" in which you can configure the layer, color, linetype, etc. for the geometry created by said tool.

    2004 ...
to be honest though, I learned on 2002 and am still exploring the THOUSANDS of things it can do ... [I love this program!]

There are a few things with the design center I know nothing about, and there is often a colorful palette that pops up with surfaces and the like ... I usually close it because I don't have experience with it yet ...
    I am a n00b ...

Are the newer design center elements and these palettes the solution to avoiding creating all this stuff in complete file templates?
I would love to have my templates be for paper and layouts and when I start adding text just go to a place where I can choose from some of my presets ... instead of making one HUUUUGE tamplate with every single preset and then dumping it all out at the end ... that just seems like a waste of the programs resources, and to a degree my time as well ...
I'm sure alot of it has to do with the fact that I am still learning so much ...
