Default how to (curve chamfer?) a curved surface

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

hi i am new to this website so bear with me. Im trying to chamfer an edge of a solid piece that has one face flat and the other face curved. but i want the chamfer surface to be curved going along with the original curved surface. I tried both the chamfer and the draft tool but i am not getting the outcome that i would like.

basically i would like the attached piece chamfered and when i look at it from both the front and right side view, the edge of the chamfers should both be a straight line going down.

I would really appreciate some help. Let me know if i wasnt specific enough.

    Sketch1 is not constrained - read this - http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf

I do not see a chamfer in the file you attached or a description of what is wrong with it (works fine for me).

I am pretty sure it is possible to create the design in Inventor

I tried the chamfer but i am not getting the results that i would like. Basically i'm trying to create the side part of the back of the chair in the picture.

My ideal outcome of this piece is to be able to see two straight edges on both the front and the right side view when chamfered.

    Thx in advance JD.

How much training in Inventor have you had?
This looks to be too complicated for a beginner.
If this is a school project - I would start with something easier.
