    Suggestions?

What will this computer be used for?

My list would include: 64-bit, Win7, a solid state main drive and a platter secondary drive, as much RAM as you can possibly afford and a dedicated graphics card. It can be either Intel or AMD based although the latter would save you a few dollars that you could spend elsewhere.

NewEgg is about the only place I order computer components from.

I've purchased from NewEgg and TigerDirect as well.

What is your budget for this new computer?

It will be also interesting if OP will indicate his location – the cost of delivery may render out of question some suggestions.

Good point MSasu. I've helped friends in the Philippines and in South Africa spec out new computers only to find the costs to be so high and availability so low the configuration had to be radically altered.

I just built a new workstation; I purchased everything from Tigerdirect. Free shipping and a lot of rebates too!

For new stuff I always look at NewEgg 1st. For older stuff for say older hardware I look at geeks.com. I needed to fix a P4 system that had the cpu die on the user. Picked up one from geeks.com for $15 and it is still going.
As for a new system I am not sure you can buy all the parts less than a prebuilt unit will cost (some will argue against this but I just tried 6 months ago). I paid $300 for my AMD Athlon II x4 system from the Dell outlet. It came with the x4 Cpu, 6GB ram, DVD-RW, 1TB hdd, 18-1 media card reader, case and ps. Don't forget a copy of Windows 7.
Just tried again at NewEgg and it came to $480 for the same parts with discounts. These were the cheapest parts that matched what I had. Not counting the keyboard and mouse.
To each their own though and if you like "rolling your own" then go for it Have fun and let us know what you decide.
