Question Dynamic Blocks - Custom Variables/Values?

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hi there,

Just a quick query about Dynamic Blocks. I use dynamic blocks with various visibility states regularly in my drawings. Is it possible to add some kind of custom variable or value to a dynamic block so that I can identify them in automated scheduling?

For example, if I have a dynamic block which represents three variations of very similar machine models is it possible to somehow give each visibility state a value, ie: the model numbers. M100/M125/M150 etc which can then be extrapolated depending which visibility state is active?

Also regarding the limitations of dynamic blocks. Is there a number of visibility states I should not exceed so that the blocks still perform 100%?

    Any input appreciated!

I'm not sure that I understand the question. It is simple to rename the visibility states in the visibility state manager. If this is not what you need try using the lookup function.

Are you wanting a text field to return the name of the visibility state that you're bloc is currently one?

woop, sorry for the slow reply.

What I'm kind of looking for is a way to extrapolate data based on the current visibility state of a dynamic block, so for example using a lisp routine or even the Filter command to identify the quantity of a certain dynamic block in a certain visibility state across the entire drawing. If that makes any sense?
