    Unhappy Measuregeom not working, help!

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hello all,

I've only just started using AutoCAD 2013 and enjoying the Measuregeom feature for a few days, when all of a sudden it just stopped working. I've got an urgent deadline and it's making my life very difficult, perhaps it happend to someone else here too? Whenever I try to measure a distance, it asks me to enter an option (distance, radius, angle, area etc.), and when I click Distance, it asks me to specify first and then second point again, and then enter an option again, and so on. I really don't know what has happened, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the forum.
Have you checked to see if the current PROFILE which is selected in OPTIONS (enter OPTIONS at the commandline), and found on the
PROFILES tab, is the one you normally use?
If not, then select the correct one, and click SET CURRENT.

Thanks Dadgad! I've only had it for a while and there is just an 'unnamed profile' available on the list which is also the current one... it must be something else then :-(

Is the problem that it's not giving you the distance, or that it repeats?

Personally, I hate MEASUREGEOM because of the repeating feature, and have replaced it with the Classic DISTANCE command (DIST)

The former, I can't measure anything at the moment, even resorted to using ruler on the screen, which is silly and far from accurate :-( if there is any other measuring tool how can i set it? just typing 'dist' in command line has the same effect - none whatsoever (that is another prompt to type a command). Strange!

Can you post the text from the text window (F2) when you're trying to use MEASUREGEOM or DIST commands

    Code:
    Command: _MEASUREGEOM
Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume] <Distance>: _distance
    Specify first point:
Specify second point or [Multiple points]:
    Distance = 0'-3 43/64",  Angle in XY Plane = 0.00000000,  Angle from XY Plane = 0.00000000
    Delta X = 0'-3 43/64", Delta Y = 0'-0", Delta Z = 0'-0"
    Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume/eXit] <Distance>:

    Specify first point: *Cancel*

Also for the interim, instead of a ruler, what about placing a dimension (DIMALIGNED)

Wow many thanks, dimaligned is a great improvement indeed :-) also discovered quick dimension just now too, still it would be nice to have the old distance inquiry back! F2 seems to be a screen dimmer on my pc, I don't know where to look for this text...

It sounds to me like your commandline has collapsed vertically to a single line being visible.
If so, locate the grip on the top center edge of the visible command line window and stretch your commandline window up, so that you see 3 lines displayed.
Hopefully it will be as simple as that.
