    What is an easy way to move something in an exact direction?

    Not much detail in your question... With your Ortho On (turn this on by pressing the F8 Key) you can move objects in straight lines up, down left or right - type in the dim you want to move them and either hit return of click the right mouse button.

    Does this help?

    You could use Polar Tracking (F10). Right click on Otrack and click on Settings. Click on the Polar Tracking tab. See the increment angle? It's possible to include additional angles by clicking on New then typing in the angle. Now when Polar Tracking is enabled all the standard angles plus the ones you added to the list are available.

    Another way would be to type it in right at the keyboard. Let's say I want to move a column 12.34 feet at an angle of 60 degrees. I start the Move command, select the object, indicate my base point then at the keyboard I type:

    @12.34'<60

    The object will be moved the exact distance at the angle specified. If you need more precision you'll have to invoke the Units command and make the change. I could opt for surveyor's units using degrees, minutes and seconds. My input might look like this:

    @12.34'<60D30'30"

    Got it?

    You could do it Jimmy's way without turning the osnap mode on (F8 ). If you just specify the base point for movement then you can just move the cursur in any direction and type the distance you want the object to be moved at and press enter...
