Changing company name in title block

Hi

Been working with Auto Cad for a while, but using the same tittle block that was created by someone else.

The tittle block seems to be made up of some text lines (which is the area I want to modify), but tied to several 'attributes' below the text, project, drawing number etc.

The only way I can access the text is to 'explode' the whole area (block?), I can then modify the text, but in doing so the several attributes function individually, and not as a whole block.

How do I 'un-explode' the area? if that makes sense

using 2000 it isn't that easy to do this in situ so you need to do the changes within the block's dwg file. Open the block rather than inserting it. This will give you access to the items you need to change without exploding anything. When finished save the drawing and it can be inserted into new drawings as you wish.

If you need to update existing drawings you need to redefine that block. Start the INSERT command but instead of selecting the block from the drop down list browse for the newly redefined block. Whan asked if you want to redefine say yes. Once you see the redefine happen you can <esc> the insrt command.

There are easier ways with newer releases.

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply.

This is going to be a realy 'numpty' question. How do you open a block. Happy making them, happy inserting them, but can't see how to open it as a dwg file?

Is it me, or the AutoCad 2000?

if it only exists within the current drawing you can WBLOCK it to a dwg file of its own.

It is normal to store often used symbols, such as drawing borders, in a folder of their own. If you don't have onw now is the time to start it. If you already have your borders stored here you can OPEN the file using AutoCAD normally.
