What exactly happened to the sun when you imported it?
Why don't you just import the model and leave the lights out of it. Just set up a new sun with the Daylight System in Max.

yeah.... from cad to max.... new beginning... but maybe you could lend me a hand here...
just imported file from cad to max... too much buttons ask but somehow i manage what i want.. the only problem is the sun... it didnt goes well as expected from cad.

thanks cad64.... did it... from.import window dialog. i untick the light... etc.... and it works...
next problem.... what are the parameters to adjust to have a better natural lighting effect for interior???
i read one of the procedures in the net. but it ended up like it was burnt... the corners has very big splatof black color...

You might also want to purchase a book. There is a lot to learn about rendering, and the free tutorials online are really only going to teach you the basics and show you how to do one specific thing. Here is the book I purchased many years ago: Rendering with Mental Ray & 3ds Max by Joep van der Steen. I learned everything I know about mental ray and rendering from that book.
