Hi,
I am looking for ways to draw the rolling of blades or slats around an axe for Aluminum Roller Shutters. The path of the rolling is an hellix, rolling around a 70 mm octogonal reel then continue downward in a downward movement.
I have attached some pics from Catalogues and Guides where such have been drawn. I am looking for clues and best of all if I can contact someone who has actually done this in Autocad or Inventor or any other 3D Software. This is a long overdue project and any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thank for the quick response.
Jut one or two hints about how to start will be great. I have the cad drawing of the octogonal reel and the slats in DWG. I understad that I need to import them in Inventor and create a Reel Part and a Slat Part and then mount them and do all the operations you stated in an Assembly. Again, many thanks.

Hint 1. Sign up for a class. Inventor is a professional program and deserves (requires) a professional level of preparation. Your design will take advanced knowledge of the software (at least 6 mths experience after training).
Hint 2. I (almost) never use AutoCAD stuff in Inventor. AutoCAD stuff is (almost) always garbage. Better to start from scratch.
Hint 3. - start here http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf
Hint 4. - go through the Help>Learning Tools>Tutorials and Skill Builders.
Hint 5. More here http://au.autodesk.com
Hint 6. - and here http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com...tutorials.html
....just the way it is. Once you learn the program most say they don't know how they ever used AutoCAD.
