





Out of memory errors occur when the swap file (virtual memory) is at its limit. Do you let Windows manage virtual memory or have you set your own limits on it?

Audit fixes errors. I'm not sure if that process makes any significant difference in the file size.
If you do not follow AutoDesk's recommended procedure there is a chance you'll miss a handful of items that must be deleted manually. Leaving those items behind may have an impact on the reinstall process.
Your "window-dressing" changes have nothing to do with virtual memory. My guess is that most IT personnel will not tweak virtual memory settings and will gladly allow Windows to manage it. However, since you are getting "out of memory" errors you might want to talk to your IT department about it.
