Running LD 2008 on Windows 7

We had to buy some new PC's and can only get Windows 7. We have many projects still in LD 2008. The IT guys bought Longbow to install 2008 products on 64 bit OS.

Well, Civil 3D seems to run, but not LD 2008. After much tweaking, I got to these errors:

Unable to load profile file. Some profile information saved in the last session may not be restored.

Catalogue file 'Support\AcFields.fdc' is not found.

I have created two profiles but still get the message. I get the Project Open dialog box but most LD command fail to run - I believe they load via a special keyin and AutoCAD seems to not know that key in.

Has anyone been able to get this to work?

We determined it was paths stored in the sdsk.dfm file. We had redirected a number of paths to a network location and tried to use the same dfm file we had used under XP. The install uses C:\Program Files (x86) on the 64 bit Windows 7, while XP uses C:\Program Files and there are three places in the DFM file that had the XP path. Once we corrected that, we were up and running.

Many people who move up to a 64-bit system and OS while still running some of their old 32-bit software fail to recognize that 32-bit and 64-bit programs are installed in different folders. There may even be a change to the path for the support files too.

That was the easy to see changes. The paths in the DFM files were much harder to find. It had been a few years since I had make those changes and did not really recall all of the contents.
The fun part is that on occasion, the same person might be on a 32 bit OS workstation one day and a 64 bit on another day. Since we keep the dfm's on a users network folder, we had to create an additional path folder that has only those items that are different, like the DFM, in that folder and make it first in the list on their 64 bit profiles and omit it on their 32 bit profiles.
I really wish there was a Civil 3D & LDD CAD Management newsgroup.
