Looking for a very good PC&laptip for business system setup

Hi Guys,

I do have a 64bit xp-pro 8gb ram 512 nvidia graphics card. But, it is giving me lots of crashes and i have no idea what causes it. So, my boss decided to buy or build a new one.

Any recommendations is well appreciated. I will be using it in the company which does do lots of piping / strustural assemblies.

Need for desktop and laptop system.

I would seriously consider upgrading the graphics on the computer you have. If AutoCAD is crashing you need to find out why. Have you tried a REPAIR of AutoCAD or have you uninstalled/reinstalled the program? If both options fail to solve the problem then you might even have to consider wiping the drive and starter over.

Well, thanks for the replies. Though i am looking for a good configuration of new setup.

Your comments are noted. I already have updated the driver and I am using Inventor suite 2012.
Autodesk already sent me sp to install but, still problem uccors. It is nit my job to find problem with the software as they are supposed to give me one goid working tools for my design making...

So you want to take the easy way out and just buy a new system hoping the problem does not resurface? That's an interesting if not expensive way to solve a problem.

When your system crashes what happens? Does it just lock up? Do you get any error messages? If so, what do they say?

Does the problem happen with just one particular drawing or with any drawing you are working on?

What are you doing or attempting to do when the problem occurs?

Have you purged and audited the drawing?

Who is supposed to give you "one good working tools"?

It is your problem until you can determine wherein the problem lies. Maybe the problem is your hardware. Maybe the problem is with an add-on program. Maybe the problem is with Windows? Do you keep it up-to-date?

Maybe there is a conflict with your anti-virus program or maybe your graphics driver needs to be updated.

If you are not interested in determining the source of the problem then you will just have to wait until you get a new computer. In the meantime what are you going to do to remain productive?

My desktop workstation is a Dell Precision T1600. I love it. The company did some upgrades on it for me, and it just SCREAMS through Inventor. It's got the Xeon E3-1280 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a Quadro 1000 video card. I can run 5+ instances of Inventor, all doing FEA, and it doesn't even hiccup.

My laptop (this one's my own, not company) does a good job with Inventor as well. It's a Toshiba Satellite, i7-2630QM, 6 GB of RAM with an nVidia GT-540M. I could wish for a higher resolution screen - this one is 15", 1366 x 768, but I think that's mostly because I'm so used to having 2 1080p monitors at work and I'm a little spoiled. There's a couple of places where it's difficult to see a whole menu all at once, so you have to hit enter rather than click OK, but it works VERY well.
