Linetype Scales

I am having trouble with some scale of some linetypes. I've created 2 new linetypes that read -UW-UW- and -TR-TR- for under water and trench route. When i put them in a new drawing they show up as created but when i put them in an existing drawing they are not scaled correctly. Also when I put in some other created linetypes that i crested they come in correctly. all of the .lin files were created the same. Is this a problem the .lin file of the existing drawing. I did purge the drawing and i am still getting the same results.

Maybe the LTSCALE of the existing drawing is different to the new drawing?
Are your custom linetypes using the same scaling format?

I'm not that conversant with custom linetypes so that is all I can think of...
