Has anyone had luck with inserting the images and surfaces from Google Earth into Civil 2012???
I have tried importing the images and they come in at 0,0 and a very small scale. I would assume they are not geo-refrenced?
When i try to import surfaces i just get a pop up box called "Panorama" and it is a list of what it claims to be duplicate points?
I obviously don't have something configured correctly. I have watched a number of youtube video and they can import this stuff no problem at all?
Anyone haveing similar issues?

I did have that set ??? UTM Zone 10.
Weird.
Does google earth work any more at all? I know Civil 3D no longer has it and no more technology preview. Google and Autodesk could not reach some agreement or something.

That could be? Some of the videos i watched said i should be using google earth 4.XX ?? But i can't install an old one with out overwriting the current version. I tried. And i got the same results. 1x1 images inserted at 0,0 and deplicate points reports.
I am using Civil 2012 and there is still google import options in the Ribbon and the commands are all still there? Not sure. But you never can tell with google.
I fear you didn't, sir.
Do the following:
1] start over with an empty drawing
2] type in _ADESETCRDSYS and set your UTM_10
3] in Google Earth, fly to the desired zone, ensuring it's a tiltless view
4] in Civil, issue _IMPORTGEIMAGE and enjoy the beauty of the grayscale imagery fully georeferenced.

The IMPORTGExxxx commands are actually running in C3D 2007~2012, while in 2013 they were dismissed.
Since release 2007, you can load colour orthophotos (e.g. Bing) via WMS service.

SOLVED!!!!!
I found my issue and it is absolutely rediculous. I can't have Google earth running on my second monitor when using it with C3D. I did in fact have my Coord system set and all that but for some reson it really didn't like it being on my second monitor.
This morning just now i was explaining it to my project manager and i had moved google earth to my first and primary monitor and *POOF* It worked! flawlessly at that.
Thanks so much everyone.
NOTE: Correction not so flalwless. It was also in an older Pre-Civil drawing with a different UTM coordinate system. UTM83-11. The CSRS.UTM ones do not work i guess ? That is lame. Oh well i do have a work around now at the very least!!!!

Hey at least you have GE up and running at the time you tried to import the image/data, I have seen users zoom to a location in GE then close it out and wonder why it didn't work.

Interesting enough, the GE tool still works in AutoCAD 2011.

Yes, that is interesting. I am not sure why people have told me it doesn't work? It has options in the ribbon under the Insert tab for GE functions? So i am not sure why AutoCad would bother putting those in the ribbon if it wasn't compatible or had issues with it.
But, it is autocad. Stranger things have happened.
