Viewports

Recommended Posts

I have multiple viewports on a layout.

I want to be able to edit the object through the viewport, but NOT change the object in ALL the other viewports as well. In other words, I want to INDIVIDUALLY/EXCLUSIVELY edit the object of each viewport (i.e. in my A, B, C, D, E, windows in the image) without affecting the rest of the others.

Is this possible? If not, is there a workaround?

I believe that you could do this by saving different VIEWS, but once you redefine the VIEW, by modifying the geometry the image will be updated.

So that doesn't really seem to do what you describe.

Why not just copy the item 5 times in modelspace, so that each viewport references a different option from modelspace?

You could also do this by creating the object on six different layers in modelspace, (although it would look like hell in modelspace)

and setting your viewport layers to show the layer you want, as you can VIEWPORT FREEZE different layers in different viewports.

If each viewport displayed different layers, then changes made in one would not be visible in the others. :)
