well i'm making a plan with different rooms and they are labelled as dining hall, ktichen etc. but if i make them a block , an dmirror them the text also gets mirrored. that's why i was trying to use attributes feature here. actuallly i was double clicking on attribute. didn't go to properties. :)

What is shown in my image is the QUICK PROPERTIES palette.

I don't see any advantage to not using MTEXT, which you can mirror, without incident, if you center justify them. :)

but if i make a block containing mtext. the text would also get laterally inverted isn't it? im using 2008

You are correct about that, now that I see what you are trying to do.

If you enter ATT at the commandline, and hover your cursor over the

Attribute Tag input area, as outlined in red, the hover tooltip will

explain the issue to you. The limitations described are only for the

attribute tag, not for the content of the attribute.

When defining the ATTRIBUTE TAG, spaces are not allowed, and all letters are capitalized.

When you fill in the actual ATTRIBUTE field you can include spaces, and lower case letters. :)

one thing i can't understand. if i edit the properties of attribute, i can write in whatever way i want. however if the same thing is double clicked and the text has spaces. autocad says you can't have spaces!!

The TAG is not the PROPERTY, it is just a name, a placeholder, if you will.

The Prompt is where it tries to steer you to make an appropriate entry,

YOUR FIRST PET'S NAME WAS?

The actual VALUE which you will assign to the PROPERTY overwrites the DEFAULT value.

If you don't overwrite it, then it will display the contents of the Default box.

The terminology is a bit strange, but it is what it is. :)
