rock1
locked objects get selected, but nothing acts on them. that is i do see them getting dotted while i selected all objects on other unlocked layers. is there way that locked layers don't get dotted while selection? just like in sketchup? Dadgad
When I try to select my locked layers in Modelspace geometry, they are neither highlighted nor selectable. They are LOCKED. They show up, because they are not also FROZEN, but they do not highlight to indicate a selection preview.
rkent
If you use command first, then select they won't be highlighted, if you select first then enter command they will be highlighted.

rock1
Replying too late, as my requirement is a little specific. Is there a way they never get highlighted at all even if I select them first?
RobDraw
Almost three years later, that is patience. You could turn off HIGHLIGHT.
Dana W
Options >> Selection tab. Set them like this. There will be no preview highlighting or dashed line preview until an object is selected whether a command is active or not.
rock1
apologies for the confusion, I have an issue with the objects only on locked layer. Is there a way the objects on locked layer never get highlighted at all even if I select them first?
Commandobill
Almost three years later, that is patience. You're not kidding! How about changing LAYLOCKFADECTL to a much higher number, then you won't really be able to tell...
RobDraw
No confusion. It's just not possible.
Dadgad
apologies for the confusion, I have an issue with the objects only on locked layer. Is there a way the objects on locked layer never get highlighted at all even if I select them first? Might freezing or turning the layer OFF be viable option? Try using the LAYOFF command, then select an object to define the layer you want turned off.
