Just wondering why Autocad doesn't have the option to view rulers and drag guide lines, as other programs like Potoshop and CorelDraw have.

It has grid and snaps, plus direct co ordinate entry.
and everything is done in real world units, unlike corel and photoshop, which are graphic design layout programs.

I agree...it doesn't have them because it doesn't need them.

Coreldraw has any scale and dimension units you wish. it does NOT have direct distance entry, that sets it apart from Autocad.

Coreldraw is a DRAWing program, not just page layout. It is strictly speaking an ILLUSTRATION software program.

Yes, Thats what i ment, Coreldraw is a drawing program, but more suited to graphic design than technical drawings, Wouldnt you agree, Mr T?

I find it easier to draw in acad and import it into corel than straight out draw it in corel. the beiser tool drives me nuts.

BUT, i still like corel for final layouts of renderings.

    Rulers

COORDS command controls what distance/angle will display bottom left status bar and the style of input. I like distance and angle to display and teach kids and use myself the direct distance entry.

    Drag guides

A similar thing in Autocad is CONSTRUCTION lines, get these by using the DRAW pull down menu and then construction lines.

Also in 2K and above you can use the very helpful and coool OTRACK lines, temporary projection lines that work with osnap and ortho snap. They can cut out a lot of thinking, arithmetic and projection.

    Enjoy
