Internal references, for Layout Numbers

I am currently re-refreshing our CAD standard templates for my company, a large A/V integrator. We don't do a lot of architectural or any MEP, really only AV drawings and modifications to architectural drawings given to us by "real" CAD guys. In this process, I've stumbled across System Variables for Text Fields, and I had an idea.

I am using CTAB to put the layout tab's title into my drawings titleblock. I am wondering if there is a way to refer to other locations within the same drawing in the same way? For example, quite often I'll show a rooms floor plan, and then in a detail flag say something like "SEE DRAWING AV1.19.DTL" which would be a page of just detail drawings.

Since I do all of my drawings in the same .dwg file, and the required drawings can change from project to project, I wonder if there is a way for me to use a variable to look at a page number on a layout tab within the same drawing? The point would be so that when I do my final drawing numbering, I don't have to comb thru my drawings to make sure I've caught everything.

Their is probably a better work flow I could be using here, and I'm open to suggestions. Does anyone think this is possible?
