Ste1978
I'm getting to grips with sheet metal. I know I can use the Contour Roll command to create a curved plate, however if I do it this way, when I create my flat pattern my plate is more than 100x100. Problem: We have a number of 100x100x6mm Mild Steel plates which need bending, these plates have a series of small 6mm holes in them, I want to create a flat pattern for profiling. Question: In sheet metal, what is the best way to go about curving a 100x100 plate to a diameter of 254, so that when I then create my flat pattern I am left with a 100x100 plate. If I use the contour roll comment, my flat pattern always ends up slightly larger then 100mm. Hope that makes sense. I am trying to save me some time, I could do this the old fashioned way in cad.... JD Mather
Are you familiar with bend allowance? When you bend sheet metal the material stretches. Inventor takes this stretching into account.
