the downing effect
I've been playing around with autocad rendering, I have the bowl which is revolution of a profile but it is 'ruled' looking. I changed the options in preferences to some higher numbers and regenall and everything smoothed out but the bowl. is there another setting somewhere for this? Also the spacers on the table are chrome, but are not showing the material.
MSasu
If I remember well that may be fixed by setting the FACETRES system variable to 10. Not sure why the spheres aren't affected, too.
fuccaro
I have no experience with these new modelling tools, but when working with surfaces, I used to set the SURFTAB1 and SURFTAB2 sysvars to higher values. Not sure if it will help in your case...
the downing effect
Thanks, I will give both a try.
MSasu
I used to set the SURFTAB1 and SURFTAB2 sysvars to higher values. That a good observation if OP had modeled the bowl as a surface instead of a solid! Only one addition - those settings will not have effect on already made surfaces; after set those system variables to higher values will need to create again the said surfaces. the downing effect
yea the bowl is a solid, but I always enjoy a new command
fuccaro
It is not new at all! In fact, it is a very old command, and... it is not even a command. You forgot to specify what software and what version do you use, but I am pretty sure that the surftab thing is useless for you.
the downing effect
My bad it's autocad 2012, I was just messing with the surftab and facetres options. I'm new fairly new to acad, I just finished a 2 year tech degree where there was little focus on 3-d modeling, sometime that one setting I'm missing makes all the difference. Thanks
tzframpton
upping your ISOLINES to 20 as a minimum, or even 50 or 100 depending on your needs can help this as well.
fuccaro
My bad it's autocad 2012, Ok, thanks for that info. As I suspected, the Surftab won't help you in this case. You may update your profile with that software information, so that in the future people can write you solutions that you really can use. the downing effect
That would be helpful since my profile said I never used autocad I went though and changed the facet resolution to 10 and isolines to 100 and it looks much smoother. When I add curtains I'll remember the surftab option. Thanks
tzframpton
Glad it worked. Good looking renders you have there.
