    Default copy and paste problem

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    hi all,
i am very new with acad. I try to copy a part of a floor plan and paste it to another new file. When I open new file it has so many different template selections. I tried some of them and pasted what I copied but it didn't paste? What am I doing wrong? I searched cadtutor contents and the forum but I couldn't find something similar to my problem
by the way i use autocad 2000 LT
    Thank you

are you using the COPY command?

to "paste" into another drawing you have to use the COPYCLIP command.

Do you have a viewport on the layout tab? If so, double click inside it to activate it. Then ZOOM, EXTENTS. If you don't have a viewport, type MVIEW at the c-prompt, click on screen to set your first point then drag out your viewport and click a second time to create it. Now double click inside and zoom, extents.

For those who are working with ACAD2007 already, thereīs a problem when you save in a previous version, letīs say 2000.

If the 2000 user opens the file (saved in acad2007), he may encouter the very same problem you have.

That was true, but Autodesk has come out with a Hotfix for the copy/paste problem.
