Hi,

Decided to tackle this wonderful software Autocad

I want to do Architectural and Interior Design work

I've set the unit length type to: architectural

Insertion scale to: inches

But why oh why when I draw a line and I set it to 1 unit value

its looking so tiny on my screen and I have to zoom way in to see something?

What's wrong?

Thanks

There is absolutely nothing wrong - is just the fact that the zoom level in your template drawing is so high than a 1 units item appear tiny.

If you are using one of the templates shipped with AutoCAD, I would guess that you choused acadiso.dwt - please do a test with the acad.dwt instead.

Thanks a lot MSasu, I did as you said and indeed it's way better !

Now as I checked Acad.dwt = imperial

acadasio.dwt = metric

2 different templates

What's the best for me? I'm working with meters (french system)

I want to enter my measurement in Ortho using "meters & centimeters" creating geometry using "meters & centimeters" How can I do that ?

You're working in meters so take acadiso.dwt.

But i would suggest you make your own .dwt

For example:

1.Open a new drawing with acadiso.dwt

2. _units -> set to meters or keep mm depends on what you draw buildings or (in modelspace)

3. _dimsyle -> make one for meters and one for cm maybe mm

4. add layer, block, title block ... things you use very often

5. Think about layouttab. i use _units mm there because it's better to plot but than you have

to make new scallists and delete all the others (_scalelistedit) f.e. (1:100 = 1:0.1 and 1:50 = 1:0.05)

save as new dwt

in Ortho using "meters & centimeters"
i think thats not possible in one drwaing u have to choose m, cm, mm

As KLW noted, you cannot use multiple units for your input. Choose one and later may use dedicated dimension styles to dimension in different units and or formats.

1. done

2. When I set to Architectural I get a warning that Architectural usually is set with "Inches" I click ok tho

3. ok it's dimstyle in command line right? I get 2 dimstyle I guess they the same

after that... I'm lost, I guess I gotta click "new" and then I see two set already there "Iso-25" and Standard", do I Click "New" and name it Meter and then?

4. you talking about toolbars ?

5. Again i'm lost here...

I would suggest that you set your units to decimal.

The term Architectural describes the format of the units and not the profession of the user.
