.xyz vs. .las

I have some inquiries about these two Lidar file types for future reference.

A: What is the primary difference to in the two as it applies to autocad and the point cloud funtionality. Is there a benefit to one over the other? I noticed a huge difference in importing a .xyz point file into a point cloud as opposed to just importing them as a normal point group. VAST DIFFERENCE.

B: Am i able to somehow import a .xyz lidar file and export a .las file for use in some of other viewing software we use?

One that I can think of is that the las was the standard format by the Lidar "group" and contains not only the xyz info but also classified info, ground points were ground, buildings are buildings etc.

Not that I'm aware of other than with Civ3D exporting a DEM file and Map3D exporting/creating a raster format file.
