AutoCAD to AutoCAD Electrical

I might be getting a few electrical drawings completed in standard AutoCAD (dwg files) which need converting into AutoCAD Electrical.

Is it possible to convert them so they were compatible to AutoCAD Electrical?

I’m not sure if there is any difference anyway? Maybe it’s a block & attribute problem.

Any help would be great.

There is a symbol builder that was demonstrated when I did my training but it didn't seem that friendly. I think if the circuit wasn't too complicated I would probably redraw it using electrical's symbol library.

The symbols should look the same but are "intelligent" where they keep track of their circuit reference etc.. An electrical drawing can be modified in vanilla and then openned in electrical but it wasn't as straightforwards as the vendors suggest, at least not on the few drawings we tried.

Thanks for the replies.

I think they are looking for somebody to draw everything in future using AutoCAD Electrical.

Anyway here use AutoCAD Electrical?

the package we use is electrical but my environment is vanilla. I have only drawn one project with it and have therefore forgotten just about everything I ever learned about it.

Dave is the mysterious man behind the mug. He has to keep his identity secret because of his previous work for MI5.:o

It might be interesting to see one of the client's drawings if that would be permissible. Can strip out anything that might identify them.
